LOS ANGELES – AUGUST 23 2023 – Rogue Games, the only publisher that’ll never stop never stopping, and the superfast superstars at developer Gridsnap Games LLC have announced that funny and frenetic first-person telekinetic brawler Stop Dead will launch October 5 via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Don’t stop moving across a chaotic, comic book-inspired cityscape where catching a breath brings instant death. Use superhuman abilities to pick up over 160 unique throwable objects like guns, chainsaws and the bloodied, still warm corpses of recent slaughter (hooray!). Leap, slide and parkour across 40 levels and four biomes as quickly as possible to achieve glorious S ranks, then take screenshots and put them on the fridge for mom to see. If that isn’t badass, I don’t know what is.
Get a taste of Stop Dead’s breakneck, balls-to-the-wall insanity with today’s new Future Games Show demo on PC via Steam. This new look at the game features a never-before-seen level and Twitch integrations for all the content creators out there looking to hit the big time. Speaking of the big time, the Future Games Show x Stop Dead competition will run at the same time and award two players with the highest score and fastest run in the demo. Their prize? Brand spanking new Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles! Move that mouse quick, would-be winners – the Future Games Show demo will be live for one week only!
Stop Dead’s Twitch integrations crank up the crazy with custom commands that allow stream viewers to apply effects onto the streamer and spawn items and enemies into the game. Moreover, streamers can unleash their ghosts to race against other players and prove they moved faster. Viewers can power up in-game enemies and have their chat messages appear above enemy heads as streamers are zipping around the arena. Full HUD customization allows streamers to optimize UI placement, and an accessibility mode allows them to further tailor their experience.
So, what’s this game all about anyway? Stop Dead takes place in the future where endless cityscapes and AI blanket the planet. One day, a rogue AI decides to destroy the beings that created it. Fun! Players are swept up into the rogue AI’s plans and must carry out its orders as quickly as possible, armed with the superhuman ability of telekinesis and, perhaps most deadly of all, a pair of fingerless gloves. And remember, keep it moving or you’ll stop dead, literally!
“When we started working on Stop Dead, we didn’t have much other than throwing ragdolls, lots of blood, and chaos. When Rogue asked us to just ‘keep doing that,’ we knew we found the right partner,” says Mike Moore, Creative Overlord at Gridsnap Games. “Rogue has given us nothing but great ideas and support throughout the development of Stop Dead, and has helped us turn it into the best game it can be.”
“If you think you’ve played everything the FPS genre has to offer, I believe a few minutes with Stop Dead will prove otherwise in glorious fashion,” said Rogue CEO Matt Casamassina. “The extremely talented team at Gridsnap has created an innovative new take on the genre that is as much about movement and flow as it is successfully traversing expansive worlds and using wild physics to thwart enemies and stay alive.”
Stop Dead will be available October 5 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. For more information, please visit the game’s Steam page, follow it on Twitter, and join the official Discord community.
